Safe acupuncture

Lots of people turn to acupuncture treatments in the world today. Acupuncture is part of national health systems of Eastern countries such as China, Japan or Korea. It begins to gain the trust of the medical profession in Western countries and in some of them can only be made by medical doctors.
Acupuncture has become an area of ??work for so many people in the West and due to the absence of regulation, began to be practiced by people without training to do so. Lack of training of many professionals makes many people, who can benefit from acupuncture, not resort to it.
In this article I give some advice on how to seek an acupuncturist professional and have security in the choice we have made.

acupuncture treatment costs

Tuesday Nov 30, 2010

Immense patients have this doubt. What is the total cost of acupuncture treatments for your wallet. This question certainly can be expressed in various forms since “How many treatments are needed?” To “what is the cost of the sessions?”.

It’s certainly a perfectly normal and understandable doubt. There is no logic to start a treatment without knowing whether you can afford it. I had a friend who attended psychology consultations some years ago and eventually gave up. The reason was simple: come to the end of the month to have to borrow money to pay for consultations. In way of a joke he told me that he felt better about himself having a nest egg in the bank at the end of the month than with psychology treatments.

I do not intend, of course, devalue the work of psychologists. I wish to draw attention to this: patients have to do math to life. Even those patients who initially say that money is no problem start counting for consultations and try to space them as far as they can when they start to feel better.

When Patients Miss Acupuncture Appointments

Wednesday Sep 1, 2010

I will make a statement like an incredible breakthrough when in reality it is a simple truth. Patients miss appointments. Patients miss acupuncture treatments. Anyone with a minimum clinical experience already learned this lesson: patients miss acupuncture appointments.

The reasons for patients missing acupuncture appointments are varied: from travel, work commitments, recreation, or simply lack of will. In general the patients begin to miss more treatments from the time the complaint that brought them to the clinic is no longer so relevant.

When a symptom attenuates, and no longer constrain the quality of life of the patient begins to turn more to what he defines as is quality of life than for the treatment of the complaint/symptom. This means that it can be more advantageous, in patients mind, lacking the acupuncture treatment and save some money or a little more rest after a tiring day of work.

Starting acupuncture clinical practice – part III

What type of clinics should acupuncture practitioners look for?

I personally prefer medical clinics where the service and attention to asepsis is something serious. However it is difficult to find medical clinics that accept acupuncturists, especially when they look that just get out of school. Yet there is no problem for you to publicize your resume. You don´t really lose anything for trying.

Obviously, choosing a medical clinic may have its advantages: patients who go there for treatment with other professionals (dental medicine, medical specialties, clinical analysis) get to know the acupuncture treatments that are made there and the likelihood of having new patients increases.

Some patients who’ve had gone at Policonsult Medical Clinic came to me this way. They were patients at the clinic that began to use their medical dental services and clinical analisys and ended up by doing acupuncture treatments.

Find acupuncture clinics in different places

Confining our search for acupuncture clinics to a small geographical area is allowing the artist’s death. Especially if the artists live in the middle of Lisbon where the competition is very intense. Attention, I do not say not to exercise in the middle of Lisbon. I mean not to confine themselves to only one area … especially when that area is already overcrowded.

For example I give acupuncture treatments in central Lisbon, in the neighborhood of Lisbon in Santa Iria da Azóia and make house acupuncture treatments. At the heart of Lisbon I give acupuncture treatments in two different locations (Marquês de Pombal – Pombal Marquis – and Avenida Estados Unidos da America – United States of America Avenue).

However I am consistently looking for new acupuncture clinics… and found two new for September. If I go forward with them I will communicate you were they are. One such possible new spaces for acupuncture treatments, for example, will help me further improve my area of action, increasing the number of potential patients.

Starting Acupuncture clinical activity – Part I

Saturday Aug 7, 2010

One problem that many acupuncture professionals have after finishing the acupuncture training relates to the search for labor. The job market is cruel to the newly-born acupuncturist: the acupuncture practitioner has no name to call for patients, is young showing little clinical experience and driving away patients, has no support from senior and experienced colleagues that could help solve more complicated clinical cases and in most cases does not know anything about marketing.

One source of income to acupuncture practitioner comes from new patients advised by former patients. This source of income becomes more important with time in the way that acupuncture practitioner gets years of experience. The probability of patients being forwarded by other patients is higher depending on the number of patients successfully treated… or, perhaps even more important than clinical success, is the professional service (here is an insight to be developed in another article). The newly trained acupuncturist can not rely on this form of advertising, neither will monetize his acupuncture clinic time with these patients.
